Policies
Gym Rules
1. Safety: Athletes must not use equipment or try a new skill without a coach's permission. Everyone is asked to be aware of their surroundings at all times and avoid distracting or interfering with other athletes' practice. Unsafe behaviour will not be tolerated.
2. Hand hygiene: Everyone must wash or sanitize their hands before entering the gym and using the equipment. This is for the safety of our athletes with severe allergies and for the health of all participants and coaches.
3. Attire: Outdoor footwear and clothing are not permitted in the gym. During classes, female athletes are required to wear a leotard/gym suit (with tight-fitting, cycling-type shorts over, if desired) and male athletes should wear snug-fitting shorts and shirt or a one-piece gym suit. Long hair must be pulled back off the face and secured with elastics and snappy clips (no bobby pins, please). All loose jewellery and watches must be removed before class and we recommend leaving all valuables at home. Athletes should be barefoot or wearing approved gymnastics footwear during classes.
4. Spectators: Parents/guardians are not permitted to stay inside the gym during classes (with the exception of Mighty Tykes classes, where a parent or authorized adult is required to participate with their child). Viewing weeks are scheduled throughout the season.
5. Conduct: There will be ZERO TOLERANCE for harrassing, abusive, or destructive behaviour.
6. Public health: Athletes, coaches, spectators, and volunteers will be required to adhere to all federal, provincial, and municipal health regulations, including but not limited to: capacity limits, screening questionnaires, physical distancing, mask wearing, and vaccination requirements. Athletes should not attend class if they have any symptoms of illness such as fever, cough, vomiting, diarrhea, etc.
7. Food & drink: Food and beverages are not permitted inside the gym, except for water. Athletes should bring a water bottle to each class, labelled with their name. A water cooler courtesy of H2O2GO is available to refill bottles if needed.
8. Pickup & drop-off: Athletes under age 12 must be dropped off and picked up by a parent, guardian, or authorized adult. A coach or volunteer will be posted at the door 10 minutes before and 10 minutes after the beginning of each class, to ensure the safety of exiting gymnasts.
